After sharing the Kale and Blackberry Salad in May, a friend of a friend made a version that included raspberries. Those pretty red berries got me to thinking… how could I make a red, white and blue salad? So I played around, and just in time for Independence Day, here it is! Blackberries are coming into season here in Texas. We have wild dewberries, a small rather hard blackberry cousin, growing all over the farm. Soon our big blackberry patch down the hill will start fruiting. We sure are hoping for some good berries, but we need more rain for them to grow big and juicy like the blackberries that have started showing up in the grocery store. And yippee! Our local store has massive, plump, dribble-down-your chin blackberries on sale right now for only 87¢ a container. Needless to say I stocked up!
