Abbie has used this simple technique to decorate mini cupcakes three times in the past few weeks – for a church function, a birthday party and for Easter dinner. Each time she has delighted the guests. Wait until you see how easy they are!
We got the original idea from the book What’s New Cupcake (a book filled with crazy adorable ideas for cupcakes) and modified it to make our Daisy Mini Cupcakes.
Daisy Mini Cupcakes
Ingredients
- frosted mini cupcakes
- miniature marshmallows
- colored sugar
- skittles
Directions
1. Cut marshmallows in half diagonally. Each marshmallow will make two petals.
2. Dip each petal in colored sugar. The sugar will only stick to the cut side.
3. Place petals around the perimeter of the cupcake so that the sugared side is facing up. The marshmallow halves will sit securely on their flat edge.
4. Finish by adding a skittle (with the “S” facing down) in the center of the cupcake.
You could make a variety of different colored flowers for your presentation. Abbie has even made rainbow flowers, using different colors for each petal. You could also use the colors of your party theme – like all red for Valentines Day, or white frosting, blue petals and a red center for the Fourth of July. Be creative!
This is the cupcake book Abbie enjoys so much that gave us the idea for our little daisies:
