Good Friday – A Day to Reflect

Today is Good Friday for Western Christians (non-Orthodox).

It’s a day in our house when we read the story of Jesus’ crucifixion and death.* On this day we stop reading when the tomb is still full. And we ponder what it would have been like to be there, to have not known what was coming.

On this day we each choose a spiritual discipline to help us focus. We don’t lay down rules about it. We keep it personal, meaningful.

We will not be posting any new projects today, but we did want to share these with you. Here are two ideas for object lessons children can understand. The cookies are wonderful to make on Saturday night in preparation for Easter. The buns would make a special Easter breakfast treat.

Resurrection Buns

Resurrection Buns from Stem Mom (these can be made with bread dough, biscuit dough, or croissant dough)

We promised you last week that we would be sharing our recipes for natural egg dyes, and we will post them tomorrow. We enjoy eating those colorful eggs for Easter breakfast. Also, Abbie has put together a demonstration on how to make the “lady slipper” napkin fold, a fancy presentation just right for Easter dinner. That will be posted tomorrow too (a double post bonanza!)

But for today, we honor Jesus’ gift to us in this space. Thank you Lord!
