Green Dinosaur Smoothie
We love green smoothies. Yes, they look like green slime. But isn’t that part of the kid appeal? ๐ For some.
But at our house? At first I had to do some stealth green smoothie-ing. I concealed the green-ness of the smoothies in opaque cups with lids. Sneaky mama! After the children consumed the smoothies and ooh-ed and ahh-ed about how delicious they were, I had them look inside. Teehee!
This was enough to convince the older two, but at the time our youngest was a toddler, so I had to come up with an additional strategy. I capitalized on his imagination, and started calling them “Green Dinosaur Smoothies.” Problem solved!
Now my children ask (and ask and ask) for green smoothies. It’s the easiest way in the world to get a cup of spinach in the tummy of a little kid!
We shared a super simple green smoothie recipe at Build A Menu, but you can jazz these up any way you like. Sometimes we add plain yogurt if we’re wanting something creamy, we use water if we want something less sweet, and if we don’t care too much about them being more khaki colored, we add berries. Any kind of fruit is game for a smoothie, but paler fruits make greener smoothies.

Yum, yum, so delicious! These taste nothing like spinach, even though the color totally gives them away as ‘out of the ordinary’. ๐
