A word or two from Mrs. Brown… It has been non-stop fun for the Browns since early April! First we had a series of wonderful visits from family, then Abbie performed in the world premier of a musical, and then we hopped on a plane to Hawaii!
We had all sorts of grand plans for posting from Hawaii… Abbie learned how to make a lei, and we even hunted down lei needles (ever heard of those?) Alas, a lack of flowers (the trees were all picked clean for Lei Day!) followed by a computer disaster, changed those plans. We are scouting about here in our Texan fields to figure out if any of our wildflowers are hardy enough to stand up to being strung, so there’s hope yet for a real lei forthcoming. A real Texan lei, if there is such a thing. 🙂
Miss Abbie told me near the end of our vacation “I am loving being in Hawaii, but I have to admit I am missing making things.” Funny thing is, she did make things. Just not enough things, apparently.
Here a few flowery pictures we thought you might enjoy. Even though we didn’t see lots of flowers on the trees and ground as they usually are, flowers were still very much in evidence…
Thanks for sharing! We are looking forward to a trip with the girls to Hawaii. I’ve only been to Kauai, but I think it is my favorite. 🙂 Love the Hawaiian people and their culture. I think we need to take a ‘slow down/no rush/enjoy life’ approach here on the mainland.
We have been to both Oahu and Moloka’i on our vacations. They were definitely different, but both were fabulously fun. What is Kauai like?
What wonderful pictures! It looks like your family had a wonderful time!
beautiful pictures; thanks for sharing! I have mimosa flowers and oleander blossoms in bloom now. Would those make good leis?
I’m not an expert, but I imagine that oleander would make wonderful leis. I think you might have more trouble with mimosa, but you could probably still do it. It wouldn’t hurt to try!
Oleander is so lovely, but alas it is poisonous. I would feel it too risky to use as a lei. Mimosa flowers would be very interesting to try as leis. We have some too… we should give them a try! – Mrs. Brown
Yeah; poisonous leis would be a bad idea. Would you let us know how the mimosa ones turn out?
Aaagh!!! So sorry! I actually DID know that oleander is poisonous, but I never thought about the risk! So… exactly the opposite of what I said before: Mimosa, yes; oleander, no.
