Finger knitting is both fun and easy! I learned to do this when I was three years old and I can make a lot very<\/strong> fast! – Abbie<\/em><\/p>\n

Finger knitting is a great introduction to knitting and crocheting. It is ideal for young children who are just beginning to be able to do handwork. Learn how to finger knit then teach your little brother or sister! – Mrs. Brown<\/em><\/p>\n

\"How<\/a><\/p>\n

First make a slipknot as in the above photos.<\/p>\n

To begin finger knitting:<\/p>\n

\"How<\/a><\/p>\n

1. Place the slip knot on your index finger.<\/p>\n

2. Lay the working yarn (the yarn that goes to the ball) over your finger from front to back while holding the loop in place to keep it from rotating.<\/p>\n

3. Pull the slip knot loop up and over the new loop…<\/p>\n

4. …and off your finger.<\/p>\n

Repeat steps 3 and 4, until the chain is as long as you want.<\/p>\n

\"How<\/a>5. When your chain is the length you’d like…<\/p>\n

6. …cut a tail off the working yarn…<\/p>\n

7. …and insert it through the loop still on your finger.<\/p>\n

8. Pull the yarn gently until you create a knot. Trim the ends.<\/p>\n

You can use your finger knit chain in all sorts of ways. Try making a bookmark, using it to decorate your room or gifts, as a belt or necklace, in your hair, sewn in a spiral for a doll house rug… use your imagination!<\/p>\n
