Mrs. Brown says:<\/strong> This recipe is easy to make\u00a0 from common ingredients in your kitchen. It makes enough to share with your little brothers and sisters. You could also give this as a cute toddler gift, with some plastic cookie cutters and a small rolling pin.

Homemade Playdough<\/h1>\n

Ingredients<\/strong>
\n1 cup flour
\n1\/2 cup salt
\n1 cup water
\n1 tablespoon oil
\n1 teaspoon cream of tartar

Directions<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mix your flour, cream of tartar and salt together in a saucepan, using a wooden spoon. The cream of tartar is very important – don’t skip it! If you do, your playdough will be unbelievably sticky, and will make a huge mess!<\/p>\n

Add water and oil to the pot. Stir it all until it is combined.<\/p>\n

Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until the dough forms a ball.<\/p>\n

Take the pot off the burner. Let your playdough cool for a while… try checking it in 30 minutes to see if it is cool enough to handle. When it has cooled down, add some drops of food coloring (which we accidentally left out of the ingredients photo – oops!) Abbie used 5 drops of blue and four drops of green to get the color in the top photo. You’ll want to wear an apron for this part. Food dye can stain clothes!<\/p>\n

Fold the playdough over on itself, and continue kneading until the color is all mixed in. You can keep adding drops of food coloring until you get what you like.<\/p>\n

This playdough lasts for a long time. Keep it in an airtight container or a ziploc bag. Our original recipe says to store it in the fridge, but we have never done that, and have never had a problem.<\/p>\n
