It is easy to make your own playdough right in your kitchen!
You'll need...
  • 1 cup flour
  • ½ cup salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • food coloring
Here's what to do...
  1. Mix flour, cream of tartar and salt together in a saucepan, using a wooden spoon. The cream of tartar is very important - don't skip it! If you do, your playdough will be unbelievably sticky, and will make a huge mess!
  2. Add water and oil to the pot. Stir until it is combined.
  3. Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until the dough forms a ball.
  4. Take the pot off the burner. Let your playdough cool for a while... try checking it in 30 minutes to see if it is cool enough to handle. When it has cooled down, add some drops of food coloring. Wear an apron - food dye can stain clothes!
  5. Fold the playdough over on itself, and continue kneading until the color is all mixed in. You can keep adding drops of food coloring until you get what you like.
  6. Keep it in an airtight container or a ziploc bag.
