Make Your Own Dish Scrubby

Make Your Own Dish Scrubby - Blossoms and Posies

We do a lot of cooking at our house. And a lot of cooking means a lot of dishes!

For pennies you can make your own dish scrubbies in a rainbow of colors (each scrubby cost us just 25¢!)

Keep them by the sink, or pop a few in a basket with a bottle of dish soap to make a colorful and practical gift. They’re the sort of things moms and grandmothers love because they’re useful and made by you!

Supplies

1/4 yard of netting in your favorite color
hands 🙂 (your most important tool, naturally)

Instructions

1. Fold the netting in half cross-wise

2. Roll the folded netting lengthwise

3. Tie a loose square knot in the netting

4. Tie another square knot, keeping the point of the first knot facing away from you (this keeps the base knots in a more round formation)

Tie a second knot - Blossoms and Posies

5. Tie a third square knot up around the middle of the two previous knots.

6. Find the very first knot and stick your thumbs into the outside of it, pulling to spread the netting open.

7. Pull one side of the open end around the knots and tuck in the ends and the rest of the knot, so you have a ball. Adjust both sides so that the scrubbie looks even. If you find it ends up too tight a ball, just untie the knots and try it again. You’ll notice the netting gets softer and easier to work with as you use it. If you’d like a larger final scrubby, start with 1/2 yard of netting next time.

8. These scrubbies are easy to clean. Just untie them and throw them in the laundry, then retie. If you are giving some as a gift, you could even throw in some homemade coupons for your dishwashing service!
