Independence Day Hair Clip

Are you going to any Fourth of July parties this year? Every Independence Day Eve (is that what you call 07/03?) some of our friends from church hold a big party to celebrate our freedom. I always dress in the colors of the American flag for the party. This year I am going to wear a red white and blue hair clip too! Want to learn how to make one?

To make this you will need:

Scissors
Glue gun
Hair clip
3 different colors of ribbon (I suggest red, white, and blue. If you live in Italy, you could do red, white, and green, but if you live in Italy, you’re probably not celebrating the Fourth of July.)
(optional: a small fabric flower)

supplies

Let’s get started!

1. The first thing you need to do is to cut 1 yard (three feet) of each color ribbon.

2. Tie the ribbons together at one end…

4. Accordion fold the braid about every two inches, letting the knots extend a bit past each side of center at the end.

5. Glue the folded braid onto the barrette at the closed end, with the knots just off the end of the glued spots. Make sure that none of the braid is loose or falling off the barrette, adding more glue if necessary.

6. Trim off the knots, right at the clip next to the glued point.

7. Put a dot of glue right on the trimmed end of each side.

8. Press the bases of the two end loops together into the glue. After the glue dries, press open each loop to make a flower.
